About the Author
Ryhia Dank, who creates under the handle @nardurna, is a Gudanji/Wakaja woman who grew up in a remote community in the Northern Territory.
Now based on Gubbi Gubbi Country, Ryhia’s paintings act as her storywork. Gudanji/Wakaja people tell stories through complex pattern and design, a rich method of visual storying that Ryhia calls Nardurna.
The Meaning Behind the Pages
-
Contemporary Storytelling: Ryhia Dank’s distinctive art practice is deeply rooted in her heritage. This collection acts as a visual memoir, translating traditional connection to land and family into striking, modern graphic lines that are both accessible and profoundly educational.
-
A Tactile Exploration of Country: Designed for artists of all ages and skill levels, the heavy-weight paper stock is chosen specifically to handle a wide range of colouring mediums. Whether you prefer fine liners, artist pencils, brush pens, or light watercolour washes, the generous square layout provides a smooth, sturdy surface that prevents bleed-through.
A Mindful Creative Journey
-
Culturally Enriched Relaxation: Beyond a standard colouring book, this publication serves as an educational bridge. As you colour each layout, you are invited to reflect on the accompanying insights into Gudanji and Wakaja culture, making it an excellent tool for therapeutic mindfulness, artistic development, or classroom discussion.
