She started her career as a ceramicist, took a short detour into web design, and eventually found her way to illustration, going on to publish eight children's books. Maja creates beautiful and visually engaging illustrations that often hold a touch of mystery, drawing on fairy tales, dreams and childhood memories.

She describes her own work as colourful with a hint of dark in it, often a little melancholic with a dreamy touch.
