Why You'll Love It
Seeing Olley's travel sketches and monotypes gives a fresh look at an artist many people know mainly for her still lifes, and her bold, lively approach suits a calendar you'll look at every day. The large diary boxes keep it practical for planning, and the wire binding means it hangs neatly and flips easily from month to month.

Margaret Olley was the quintessential Australian artist, with universal appeal. She had a life-long romance with travel, and from the late 1940s to the early 1970s a sketchbook was almost always at hand to capture the scenes that presented themselves to her.

Her outdoor sketching sessions reveal a passion for the world around her, beyond the more familiar still life and interior subjects. The many sketches and monotypes she produced are her travel notes, and they are the notes of an artist as bold in her approach to her medium as she was to life itself.
